As a die-hard Detroit Red Wings fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. And lucky for us fans, the Red Wings have just released their preseason and regular-season schedules!
Preseason Schedule
The preseason kicks off on September 29th with an away game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Wings will play six games in total, with three at home and three on the road. I can’t wait to see how our boys perform during the preseason and who will make the final roster for the regular season.
Regular Season Schedule
Now, onto the main event - the regular season! The Red Wings will start off the season with two away games against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 14th and 16th. Their first home game is on October 21st against the Vancouver Canucks.
This season, the Red Wings will play a total of 82 games, with 41 at home and 41 on the road. They will face off against every team in the league at least once throughout the season. As a fan, I always look forward to watching the rivalries between the Wings and teams like the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
One thing to note is that the Red Wings will have a long break from December 23rd until January 5th for the NHL’s holiday break. The team will resume the season with an away game against the Los Angeles Kings on January 6th.
Broadcast Schedule
If you’re wondering how you can catch all the Red Wings games this season, look no further than their broadcast schedule. The team will have 71 of their 82 regular-season games televised locally in Michigan on either Fox Sports Detroit or Bally Sports Detroit. Nationally, the Red Wings will have 12 games broadcasted on NBC Sports Network or one of their sister channels.
Additionally, the FSD and BSD coverage will have pregame and postgame shows for each game, providing in-depth analysis and interviews with players and coaches.

If you’re like me and prefer to have a hard copy of the schedule to reference throughout the season, you’re in luck. The Red Wings have released printable schedules for both the regular season and preseason.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some Red Wings hockey this season. It’s been a tough past few years for the team, but I have high hopes for the upcoming season. With a few young players getting more experience under their belts and some new additions to the team, I think the Red Wings can surprise some people.
