Today, we’re excited to bring you an easy and fun craft project that’s perfect for kids of all ages. Introducing the Watercolor Fish Craft, complete with a free printable template.
Materials
Before we get started, let’s make sure we have all the materials we need:
- Watercolor paper
- Watercolor paints
- Paintbrushes
- Scissors
- Glue
- Free printable fish template
Instructions
Step 1: Print the Template
Start by printing out the free fish template. This will be our guide for creating the fish. You can find the template at the link provided above.
Step 2: Cut out the Fish Shape
Using scissors, carefully cut out the fish shape. Be sure to cut along the lines as accurately as you can. This will ensure that your fish has a smooth and even shape.
### Step 3: Watercolor Painting
Now it’s time to apply the watercolors. You can use any colors you like, but we suggest starting with a base layer of one color, and then building up to more vibrant colors once the first layer has dried.
Continue adding layers of color until you’re happy with the result. Be sure to let each layer dry before applying the next one.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different techniques, like adding salt or using a wet-on-wet approach. The possibilities are endless!
Step 4: Finishing Touches
Once your fish has dried completely, it’s time to add some finishing touches. You can use a black marker to add eyes, or cut out some additional shapes from different colors of watercolor paper to add fins or other details.
Using a glue stick or a small amount of liquid glue, carefully attach the additional shapes to the fish. And voila - your watercolor fish is complete!
