Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I am already getting excited for all the delicious food that will be served on this special day. One dish that I absolutely cannot live without on Thanksgiving is the turkey. It is the centerpiece of the meal and a symbol of gratitude for all the blessings we have received throughout the year.
Roast Turkey
This roast turkey recipe is perfect for Thanksgiving. It is succulent, juicy, and the skin is crispy and golden brown. You will need a whole turkey, butter, garlic, salt, and pepper for this recipe.
To make the turkey, preheat your oven to 350°F and place the turkey in a roasting pan. Melt the butter and mix in chopped garlic, salt, and pepper. Brush the turkey with the butter mixture and roast for 3 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food and a must-have on Thanksgiving. This recipe is simple and easy to follow. You will need potatoes, butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
Peel and chop the potatoes into small pieces and boil them for 15-20 minutes or until they are soft. Drain the water and mash the potatoes with butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce is a classic Thanksgiving side dish that pairs perfectly with turkey. This recipe is easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. You will need fresh cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and water.
Add the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and water to a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the cranberries are soft. Remove from heat and let it cool before serving.
Green Bean Casserole
Green bean casserole is a popular Thanksgiving side dish that is loved by many. This recipe is made with fresh green beans, mushrooms, cream of mushroom soup, and crispy onions.
To make the casserole, cook the green beans in boiling water for 5-7 minutes or until they are tender. Drain the water and mix the green beans with cream of mushroom soup and chopped mushrooms. Top with crispy onions and bake in the oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
Pumpkin Pie
No Thanksgiving feast is complete without a delicious pumpkin pie. This recipe is made with a homemade pie crust and a creamy pumpkin filling.
To make the pie crust, mix flour, salt, sugar, and butter in a bowl until it forms a crumbly mixture. Add cold water and mix until it forms a dough. Roll out the dough and place it in a pie dish. For the filling, mix pumpkin puree, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a bowl. Add eggs and evaporated milk and mix until it forms a smooth mixture. Pour the filling into the pie crust and bake in the oven at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350°F and bake for an additional 45 minutes.
These are just a few of my favorite dishes for Thanksgiving. I hope you try them out and enjoy them with your loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving!
