Easter is one of my favorite holidays. The warm spring weather, beautiful blooming flowers, and of course, the delicious chocolates and candies that come with it never cease to bring a smile to my face. But Easter is not just about indulging in sweet treats; it’s also a time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.
The Jelly Bean Prayer
As I was browsing the internet, I came across a beautiful poem called “The Jelly Bean Prayer.” It’s a simple yet powerful poem that reminds us of the significance of each color of jelly bean. I couldn’t help but feel moved by it and wanted to share it with you all.
The Colors of the Jelly Beans
The poem goes like this:
- Red is for the blood He gave,
- Green is for the grass He made,
- Yellow is for the sun so bright,
- Orange is for the edge of night,
- Black is for the sins we made,
- White is for the grace He gave,
- Purple is for His hour of sorrow,
- Pink is for our new tomorrow.
Each color represents a significant aspect of Jesus’ life and the message of Easter. Red symbolizes the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our sins, while green represents the grass he created as a reminder of His endless love and care for us. Yellow stands for the bright sun, a symbol of the hope we have in Jesus, and orange represents the edge of night, a reminder that even in the darkest moments, Jesus is with us.
Black represents the sins we have committed, acknowledging that we are not perfect and have fallen short of God’s glory. White stands for the grace Jesus gave us, forgiving our sins and offering us a new life. Purple is a symbol of His hour of sorrow, the pain and suffering Jesus endured for our sake. Finally, pink represents our new tomorrow, a reminder that through Jesus, we have hope for a brighter future.
The Message of the Jelly Bean Prayer
Reading the Jelly Bean Prayer is a humbling experience. It reminds us that Easter is not just about bunnies and chocolates but about the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us, and the hope and promise of a new life that comes with it.
As I look at the colorful jelly beans in front of me, I am reminded of the colorful tapestry of life that God has woven for us. Each color represents a different aspect of His love and grace, and it’s up to us to embrace them and live our lives in a way that honors His sacrifice.
Celebrate Easter with Joy and Gratitude
I hope that this Easter, you can take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and find joy and gratitude in the gift of Jesus’ sacrifice. Whether you’re celebrating with family or friends, indulging in sweet treats, or spending time in quiet reflection and prayer, I wish you a blessed and happy Easter.
