If there’s one thing we love about DIY projects, it’s the sense of accomplishment you get from creating something with your own two hands. And when that something happens to be a cute and cuddly dragon plush, well, that just takes things to the next level.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Before you get started, you’ll need to gather a few supplies. Fortunately, most of these items can be found at your local craft store:
- Dragon plush pattern (available for free on bincbonc.com)
- Minky or other soft fabric for the body
- Felt for the wings, spikes, and horns
- Embroidery thread in coordinating colors
- Polyester stuffing
- Needle
- Scissors
- Sewing machine (optional but recommended)
Step 2: Cut Out Your Fabric
Using the dragon plush pattern, cut out the body pieces from your chosen fabric. You’ll need two body pieces, two wing pieces, and two sets of spikes and horns.
Step 3: Sew the Body Together
With right sides facing each other, sew the two body pieces together along the edges, leaving a small opening at the bottom. Turn the body right side out and stuff firmly with polyester stuffing.
Step 4: Add the Spikes and Horns
Using the embroidery thread, sew the spikes and horns onto the body. You can use a simple whip stitch to attach them securely.
Step 5: Sew the Wings and Attach to Body
Sew the wing pieces together along the edges, leaving a small opening. Turn right side out and stuff lightly with polyester stuffing. Sew the wings onto the body, making sure they are evenly spaced and securely attached.
Step 6: Finish the Plush
Finally, sew the opening at the bottom of the body closed using a whip stitch. Your dragon plush is now complete and ready to be cuddled!
We hope you enjoyed this DIY project! Creating your own dragon plush can be a fun and rewarding experience, not to mention a great gift idea for the little ones in your life.
