Monday: Genesis to Deuteronomy
Start your week off strong by diving into the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. These books contain some of the most foundational stories and laws in the Bible, and are a great place to start if you’re just beginning your Bible reading journey.
Tuesday: Historical Books
On Tuesday, focus on the historical books of the Old Testament: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah. These books cover Israel’s history from Joshua’s leadership in the Promised Land to the return of exiles from Babylonian captivity.
Wednesday: Poetry and Wisdom Literature
Take a break from narrative and dive into the poetry and wisdom books: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. These works offer incredible insight and wisdom on topics ranging from love and relationships to suffering and the nature of God.
Thursday: Major Prophets
On Thursday, turn your attention to the major prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel. These books are called “major” because of their length, and they contain powerful messages of judgment, redemption, and hope for God’s people.
Friday: Minor Prophets
End your week with the minor prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. These books are called “minor” not because they are less important, but because they are shorter in length compared to the major prophets. They contain messages of judgment and redemption for God’s people, and are a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness.
